Preventing phishing needs to be a community-wide effort. Phishing sites and profiles need to be reported by as many people as possible. You can help by reporting phishing sites and profiles you find to Google and/or the appropriate social media company (i.e. Facebook and Twitter). These reports only take a minute or two of your time, and can greatly help to curb the damage of phishing attempts.

Report social media phishing by sending details to email@example.com for Facebook, and by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org for Twitter.
It is easy to request the removal of a phishing site. Use a whois lookup to find the domain registrar. Domain Name Registrars typically offer an email such as abuse@ or a toll free number to report these kinds of illegal sites.
